Our Beautiful Mess (Part 1)

In addition to the baby, this is our current obsession for the past few months:

(The Renovation of) OUR LITTLE HOUSE IN JAGAKARSA ! *sok seru*

When we found out about the pregnancy and me finally came home for good, we immediately decided to beautify our little house so it'll be comfortable enough to live in and once the baby's born we can move in very soon *sok berani*

Hidup super medit plus mengkerikiti tabungan was our motto these days..

Yup, welcome to the adult life;
Where you have to juggle between the birth of your baby, buying a house, pay for your own living costs and buy all essential items for your house.

Who said that it's gonna be easy? no one

There's no turning back!
Terlanjur basah pokoknya...

So, now almost every weekend we visit our house and get excited for every-tini-tiny-minor-progress yaeyalah, udah kaga ada duit kaleee buat wikenan

Anyhoo...we love to see this beautiful mess in our house..
This is the beginning:

Say goodbye to Kamar super kecil and say hellowwww to our future kitchen! Yup, now it's only a two-bedrooms house with a kitchen up front. All the parents wince once we told them about the kitchen: "kitchen? in the front part of the house? and all white??"

We have good advice to avoid this kind of meddle by the parents: NEVER EVER ASK FOR MONEY FROM THEM TO BUILD YOUR OWN HOUSE.

Sorry Mom, Dad, but it's not your call! ha ha! *sambil berdoa hasilnya bagus so we dont get the I-told-you-so look*

(Two) Holes in One (wall)

Next, the main bedroom.

I am obviously a sucker for natural light. And air. Seriously.

First time when I saw the (one and only) small permanent (!) window in the main bedroom, I seriously considered to demolish the window right away, no matter how much it'll cost me.

Hence those two big holes in the picture above. Tak peduli bakal tampias-tampias kalo ujan, tapi daku bukan vampir! Light! I need light!

Meet our architect (of course not the one who wears orange t-shirt)

Say good bye to that permanent (!) window and say BIG hellow to our so-called MINI walk-in closet. The main bedroom is so small we cannot even have a medium size cupboard for our clothes. Everything has to be built-in.

By removing the bathroom door and broaden the space from the bathroom and the area of tangga aborsi, voila! we have sufficient space for us to store our attires and shoes and the dressing table. Not big, just enough for us :)

Hence, not enough space for the new bathroom door. We have to move the door on the other side of the wall.

Well, it's not new actually. It's the same old door, and we only add this rail, so now it's gonna be a sliding door. Oh, I also asked the architect to replace the wood material in our bathroom door and replace it with a glass material. Can you guess why do I even bother to request this one? Correct!!

SO. THE. NATURAL. LIGHT. WILL. COME. THROUGH. THE DOOR.

There's no such thing as too much natural light.

sang tangga aborsi about to be removed

By adding extra spaces for the dressing area, consequently we are happily have to remove si tangga aborsi menuju kamar pembeti. Instead, we're gonna get (hopefully) a much safer wooden stairs.

OK, we honestly did not expect that removing and adding new stairs would be that costly. I even seriously suggested to Okky that perhaps we don't need stairs after all and perhaps we won't even afford have maid or baby sitter.

Or even if we have one, it doesn't have to be a full time cleaner, so she doesn't have to sleep in the room upstairs.

Or even if we have the full timer, I don't care how she's gonna get upstairs, I don't care if she has to climb the wall or she has to fly, but there's no way that I'm gonna pay that amount of money so just she could walk comfortably to her room.

But then God send you a husband for one reason and one reason only.

To keep you sane.

So, future Mbak or baby sitter, enjoy your wooden stairs. You could thank Anak Joglo for this. But in return, silahkan cuci baju pake tangan yaaa...duit abis ga mampu beli mesin cuci hihi...
