A Hidden Sanctuary For Three

Our beautiful mess is NOT SO messy anymore!

Well at least for the main bedroom area don't ask about the rest of the house.
We're so excited that the long awaited renovation (for the main bedroom) is finally (almost) completed! Still needs little touch here and there, but we can say that most of it is almost done!
so, BIG YAY to that!
And WE love the result!
DOUBLE YAY!

Seriously, renovating a house can be really frustrating (for you and your bank account, that is). Since we have to struggle between having a baby, filling the house, and other spending, we had to do it one step at a time (well sometimes it's two steps. Not fun).

Most people renovate their house by starting from the living room, since that will be the first room a guest will see from a house. But we decided that since this is our house, we have every right to be selfish. So, we finally started the house renovation from: THE MAIN BEDROOM!

Our thought was simple. We're gonna be the ones who live there from the beginning and hopefully for long period of time kecuali mampu beli rumah baru yang gedean, Amin!
So, we should entertain ourselves first! right? right??
We don't wanna be a couple who have a very nice living room yet have to sleep on a mattres on the floor.

For that reason, we made a deal with our architect to prepare the First Stage Renovation (main bedroom, main bathroom and wooden stairs as the replacement of tangga aborsi). The Second Stage would be the Kitchen which was started after we had sufficient fund

Believe me, despite the fact that you have prepared yourself with hundred bedroom inspiration from the internet or magazines, it's not an easy task to convey your ideas (which keep changing all the time) to the expert. In our case, my our idea for the theme for main bedroom is the combination between french chic/shabby chich/cottage style. OK, try to explain THAT to the Architect who happens to be a GUY, whose expertise is "rumah minimalis" and nowadays it's a model yang lagi ngetren deh! *hosh..hosh..* Don't ask how many times we've changed the design proposed by the Architect.

If you succeed, next you'll be facing difficulty to be consistent with the theme, especially when you're surrounded with cute and cheap items and furnitures, or accidentally find bedroom pictures on the internet, which themes are the opposite like the one you have decided and may ruin the whole ideas. Tempation...temptation...

Next barrier is, how to gather all of your (wonderful) ideas or dreams in ONE design? with AFFORDABLE price? In our my case, it's the walk-in closet.
HOW TO PUT A WALK-IN CLOSET IN A BEDROOM SIZE 3x4 M?
You can't even put a NORMAL SIZE CUPBOARD in there without bumping into it.
Also, can we afford it?

Therefore, after dealing with grueling times to design, negotiate and prepare the fund (our least favourite activity), WE now happily present OURSELVES with our new hidden sanctuary:

this is the "Before" picture, you can see the bathroom door on the right part.

And here is the "After" picture..:

Now we have a built-in bed with two cabinets at each side of the bed (for our folded clothes), and also we build the cupboard up to the ceiling, which is separated with floating rack (so it won't feel "full"). This is to overcome the small bedroom size issue, where we decided to maximize all space. The purple wall someday will be replaced with wallpaper (once we have the money haha...).

This is the "Before" picture in the area in front of the original bathroom door and that bloody window! *please don't mind Anak Joglo there, he didn't pose. I actually told him to measure the area. With his body lenght hee..hee...*

Remember I mentioned about the one and only PERMANENT window in our room? It's suffocating so we can only say "kthxbabai!" *ala twitter* to the old window, and say "HELLLOOWWWW Beautiful!" to this:

our so-called-mini-walk-in closet

As you can see, this is gonna be my our dressing area where we put our shoes, bags and hanging clothes. Again, the closet reaches to the ceiling. Entah gimana cara gue bakal ngambil barang-barang diatas, tapi selama masih ada Anak Joglo tangga, akan kupanjat demi kamu, walk-in closet jadi-jadian idaman! Oh, I think the mirror trick works here, it makes the area feels bigger than the actual size.

white plain wall

The above is the "Before" picture, before the two holes in wall phase. And here's the result:

Hellowww..natural light! *well, this pic was taken during night, so I will say hellow the next morning*

These windows are facing the garden area and patio area (halah, patio! ngibul! itu hanya teras kecil jadi-jadian deket dapur luar huahuhaua...). We're ready to have natural light to wake us up in the morning...(kibulan kedua, kami bangun siang!).

I guess that's all we can show you for now...Hope you like em as much as we do :)

Oh, last but not least, let's give credit to our survivor: a chipo IKEA Paper Lantern!

Hahaha.... it survives our New Year's trip and placed in a cramped and messy room for almost one year period...! Kamu berhasil lampion putih murah ku!

Now it's placed beautifully where it belongs :)

Ciao!!
